Turn documents into business knowledge you can check
Your most important decisions depend on information scattered across contracts, reports, business records and the relationships between them. DDX (Decision Deck Extract) is designed to turn that information into structured, connected business knowledge, with the source evidence behind material facts kept in view.
Make information useful beyond the document it came from. Find what matters, identify what's missing and bring relevant knowledge into the reports, analysis and decision workflows that need it.
Make the information usable. Keep the evidence visible.
Reusable business knowledge
Turn approved source material into consistent records and meaningful relationships that teams can search, review and use again.
Evidence you can check
Keep important facts connected to their original source, location, version and review status, so people can inspect the information behind a result.
From scattered documents to connected business knowledge
The information behind a business decision rarely sits in one place. A contract sets an obligation, an amendment changes it and a payment record shows what happened. Finding the documents is only the start. Someone still has to connect them, establish which terms apply and check the evidence.
DDX is designed to read approved material, structure the relevant information and connect related business records. Source references remain attached, while missing or conflicting evidence is flagged for review. The result is a reusable body of business knowledge that can support more than one question or workflow.
The source stays attached as the information becomes useful.
DDX capabilities and controls
Source and version checks
Check source identity, access permissions and document versions before information is processed or reused.
Document-aware processing
Use suitable text, vision, table and specialist processing routes for the material, rather than treating every document the same.
Evidence-linked extraction
Capture relevant fields, terms and values as structured information, retaining their source locations and supporting context.
Validation and expert review
Identify missing, conflicting or uncertain evidence and direct affected cases towards the checks or expert judgement they need.
Connected business knowledge
Use a knowledge graph to link relevant entities, agreements, obligations, amendments and events across different sources.
Governed reuse and updates
Make eligible knowledge available for permitted use, with source restrictions preserved and relevant records refreshed when the underlying information changes.
When to use DDX
Use DDX where business work depends on understanding documents, connecting related records and establishing which evidence applies. It is particularly relevant to recurring tasks where the same information must be found, interpreted or prepared for different teams and systems.
DDX is especially useful when document layouts vary, business terms change over time or incomplete evidence requires expert attention. It helps teams build on information already understood rather than reconstructing it for every new task.
Where DDX shines
Business knowledge as an input to better decisions
DDX prepares information for use; it does not turn every document into an automatic decision. It helps establish what the sources say, how relevant records relate and where further evidence or expert judgement is needed.
Decision Deck can then bring that knowledge together with analytical models, business rules and policy controls. The resulting assessment is informed by the applicable evidence, while action authority and decision accountability remain governed separately.
How DDX works
Receive and identify
Take in approved source material, check permissions and versions, identify the document type and select an appropriate processing route.
Extract and reference
Read the relevant text, layouts, tables or supported specialist formats. Structure the required information while retaining references to the original source.
Validate and connect
Apply checks, identify gaps or conflicting evidence and route exceptions for review. Connect accepted information to the related business records and knowledge graph.
Publish and maintain
Make eligible information available to permitted search, reporting and decision workflows. Refresh affected knowledge when sources change, while model improvements follow a separate, tested release process.
Business impact
Operations
Reduce repeated document reading and information preparation, allowing people to concentrate on exceptions, review and higher-value work.
Risk and compliance
Give reviewers a clearer view of the underlying evidence, outstanding gaps and source information supporting business assessments.
Finance and commercial
Make agreements, amounts, deadlines and obligations easier to compare in context, helping teams identify discrepancies and understand their implications.
Product and technology
Reuse structured, governed business knowledge across applications, reporting and decision services without rebuilding the same document interpretation for every workflow.
Common questions
How is DDX different from document search or OCR?+
OCR converts visible document content into machine-readable information. Search helps people find relevant material. DDX goes further by structuring business information, linking related records and preserving the source evidence and review context needed to use that information in recurring workflows.
What happens when information is missing or contradictory?+
DDX workflows can flag gaps, conflicting statements and uncertain values for additional evidence or expert review. Completing extraction does not automatically mean the information is ready for every business purpose. Applicable validation, review and approval requirements still determine how it can be used.
Can DDX work with scans, tables, drawings and BIM files?+
Different types of material require different processing methods. Text, scanned pages and tables may use language, vision, OCR or layout-processing tools. Drawings, native BIM data and other specialist formats require suitable parsers and validated processing routes. Supported formats and workflow scope are agreed for each deployment.
Does DDX automatically train models on company documents?+
No. An extraction profile can define what information to capture and how to validate it without training a new model. Optional fine-tuning can use approved documents and reviewed outputs, but any candidate model must be independently tested and approved before release. Training analytical models for business decisions is a separate process.
How are document changes and access permissions handled?+
Source versions and access rules remain part of the information's context. Governed updates can refresh the relevant records, relationships and search results when documents change. Access restrictions continue to apply to derived knowledge and outputs, while the history behind earlier decisions remains distinguishable from current information.
How does DDX work with other Decision Deck capabilities?+
DDX provides structured information and connected source evidence. Decision Blocks and analytical models can use that knowledge for defined business tasks. Policy Dynamics governs which actions are permitted, while Evidence Vault captures the evidence and context of decisions as they happen. Together, they connect business information to explainable, governed decision-making.
Put the knowledge in your documents to work
Start with a recurring business task. Define the sources, information, evidence requirements and review steps that matter. Then establish how DDX can make that knowledge reusable across your decision workflows.
